With a voice like a clear blue sky, Singapore-born, Toronto-based Chinyi C writes music that heals your inner child. Honest, soothing, and thoughtful, she draws her audiences into a world shaped by memory and meaning through intimate lyricism and lush fingerpicking, with broad influences spanning Tanya Chua, Sara Bareilles, Bread, and Donovan Woods. Her stories navigate the complexities of the Southeast Asian diaspora and the longing for permanency that underscores many immigrant experiences. She released her latest single, Everything is Changing, in October 2025. The song speaks to holding on to the people who matter in our lives, in a world that constantly tries to draw our attention away.
Chinyi C broke into the indie folk music scene with her debut EP, All We Are (2022), a compilation of six songs on resilience, heartbreak, and moving on. In 2024, she released her single, Human, a folk and chamber-pop exploration accompanied by a visually compelling music video that she co-directed and produced. The single pays homage to her diverse communities in Toronto, Oregon, Singapore, and all the places she has called home, showcasing her capacity as a songwriter and visual creator.
Currently, Chinyi C is developing her next recording project. She has performed with collaborators including Jade Music Festival in Taiwan and Vancouver, Wintersong Festival, Sofar Sounds, Pearson International Airport, Billy Bishop Airport, and Small World Centre. Chinyi C is a proud alum of the Small World Music Incubator program and SOCAN's Equity x Production Mentorship.
